KiteShip Corporation, an innovator in very large free-flying sails (VLFFS) for ships, announces that it was selected winner of the Transportation Category of the California Clean Tech Open with their very large traction kites, which reduce ship owners' crippling fuel costs by up to 25 percent, and vastly reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and pollutants.

The California Clean Tech Open is an annual, nationwide business plan competition created by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs. The goal is to accelerate the transformation of great ideas into thriving businesses that will turn California into a clean technology powerhouse and enrich the state's other industries. It is an independent non-profit organization of experienced volunteer entrepreneurs and business professionals.
Benefits to Finalists included: free classes on writing an effective business plan; mentoring by experienced entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and technology experts; an opportunity to present to a panel of experts at the final event, access to exclusive networking events; and introductions to potential investors.
The 5 Category Winners, announced Tuesday, each receive a $110,000 "Start-up in a box" which includes: $50,000 cash, legal services from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, accounting services from Horn Murdock Cole, PR services from A&R Partners, office space from Plug and Play Real Estate and others. Each of the winners will also receive $25,000 in executive search services from PeopleConnect.
